INTERNATIONAL SITE-SPECIFIC THEATRE PROJECT

Continuo Theatre is coming back again to a small pond called Otrhanec not far from Plum Yard to change its surroundings into a theatre stage in the open air. The shores and surface, fields, meadows, unpaved roads, treetops as well as the unused local railway are going to become the settings for theatre scenes and art and sound installations.

Continuo Theatre has been holding a regular annual summer project since 1997. It is a creative meeting of theatre makers of different nationalities with various artistic approaches. Every year the participants of the project stay and work together at a former farmstead Plum Yard, in a village of Malovice, the seat of Continuo Theatre. During four weeks they produce a unique theatre performance which is finally shown to the public in a specific non-theatrical space more or less far away from Plum Yard.

The previous summer projects usually dealt with historical events, history of a certain place or certain people. This year Continuo Theatre members have decided to change the project concept. They have invited twenty young artists, students of art schools or young professionals, and they are going to make a project reflecting current affairs seen by young people from various European countries.

They are going to deal with current affairs that are spoken about every day, ordinary everyday things we are not dare to speak about even to ourselves, deafening banalities as well as intimate confessions being whispered so softly that we can’t nearly hear them, fragments of poetry, newspaper news, human stories… Islands… The audience can see the scenes in their own choice and make their own story while it is slowly getting dark and they are wandering the landscape around the pond.
