Ridina Ahmed
Ridina Ahmed is a singer, performer and author. In addition to her solo concerts, she is part of the award-winning duo HLASkontraBAS – nominated for the Anděl Award 2016 together with Petr Tichý. In August 2019 she premiered an expanded form, HLASkontraBAS Octet, for 4 voices and 4 double basses. In the past she has been involved in jazz for many years and has also collaborated with many musicians, e.g. Floex (CD Pocustone), Vladimir 518 (CD Gorilla vs Architect). She was invited as a guest to Bobby McFerrin’s concert in Prague and sang a duet with him. She has released a solo CD with her voice, and for her solo concert project with the projection Hlasokraj she won the Next wave award for discovery of the year in 2006. She has contributed to the music of a number of theatre performances and several films, most recently the international dance project Eymen – Angle of View (produced by the Tanec Praha festival).

Ridina Ahmedová has collaborated with Continuo Theatre on several projects. She first took part in the project Kratochvílení in 2000, in the same year she collaborated on the Closing Ceremony of the Prague – European City of Culture project, and she also created the music for Kratochvílení 2006.

Čankišou
The seven-member band Čankišou has made its way into the consciousness of listeners at home and abroad thanks to its concerts full of energy and wild rhythms. Led by the voice and physique of the imposing singer Karel Heřman, they turn into a wild dance routine after a few minutes. With their fusion of different ethnic influences on a rock basis and a rich collection of exotic instruments, the Čankišou have traveled the world from the Indian Ocean island of Reunion to Pakistan and Malaysian Borneo.

Karel Heřman and David Sysyn Synák collaborated with Longital on the project Kratochvílení 2005. David Synák composed the music and performed in the 2005-2007 production of Daleko k dotýkání and in the Vakokodeska project.

Longital
Longital are guitarist Daniel Salontay and bassist Shina. They have played hundreds of concerts not only in Czechoslovakia, toured all over Europe, completed two tours of the USA and Canada with a repeat invitation to the SXSW Austin festival (2012, 2013) and managed one major tour of Ukraine and Crimea when it was still possible (2013). They’ve made twelve full-length albums and consider music their calling: Dano handles gigs, band management and, more recently, teaching the sublime truths of guitar, Shina is dedicated to her well-run Sun Records label and spends her precious spare time in silence and in her garden, which is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for her personal poems, which later become the lyrics for her songs.

Longital’s new album, their twelfth in a row, is called Dočista and was recorded in Dan’s music studio during a time of pandemy when, once again, it was unclear what was next for the music. A crucial moment in Longital’s new work is the collaboration with producer, sound artist and performer Andrej Bako from London, who has Slovak roots and name, although he does not speak Slovak. The trio’s friendship began in 2008, when Andrej toured the world with Massive Attack’s singer Nicolette and met Dan and Shina in Slovakia. Shortly thereafter, he created a remix of Konečne si letel, which was released on the remix album Longital Revoyaged in 2009 and was also featured in a joint live performance at the Wilsonic festival that year.

Dano and Shina, along with Karel Heřman and David Sysynak of Čankišou, created the soundtrack to Kratochvílení 2005 Longital also created the music for the 2006 production of Eclipse.

Talaqpo
The band Talaqpo combines several influences in their music – besides jazz and contemporary improvisation, Indian tala and ragas, odd Balkan rhythms, oriental scales, minimalist patterns, as well as novel grooves can be heard in their work. Lyrics in Central Asian languages add to their exoticism. Talaqpo seeks a dirty, animalistic, unconventional and unrefined sound.

Lucie Páchová, singer and composer, performs in Please Leave a Message.
