CELEBRATION OF THEATRE AND FREEDOM

As a part of the programme of the festival 30 years of Continuo Theatre will be held a launch ceremony of a publication called Theatre and Freedom: The First Decade of the Independent Czech Theatre after the year 1989, which resulted from a research of the Czech independent theatre after the year 1989 in the Arts andTheatre Institute. It was written by a team of authors Martina Pecková Černá, Dagmar Čiripová, Petr Dlouhý, Kateřina Dolenská, Vladimír Mikulka, and Hana Strejčková. The book shows swift energy and plurality of aesthetics, topics and activities of the Czech independent theatre in the first ten years after the Velvet Revolution, that means the time when Continuo Theatre was established and started to play.

Besides professional studies, the book contains passages of the interviews that were done as a part of the research with nearly 70 personalities of the Czech and Slovak theatre of the 90s. When it was necessary for the description of the theatre during the transformation of the Czech society from the socialist type to the market one, the period before 1989 is also mentioned.

The event will be enriched with the performances of representative personalities of the Czech as well as foreign theatre and dance.
